Pictures On The Waves

I’ve broken down my lists of DC area resources into 3 categories- production, post production and health care (yes, doctor recommendations!)

If you’re new to the DC film and video community, you’ll want to check out TIVA-DC and Women in Film and Video. The DC Film Salon is also worth checking out. And two of the biggest film festivals that I love are Silverdocs and DC Shorts. Let us not forget about the annual 48 Hour Film Project that rolls through here the first weekend in May!

If you want to educate yourself in film, the two big film schools in DC are American University and Howard University, both offering undergrad and graduate degrees. George Washington offers a documentary film school bootcamp of sorts, Future Media Concepts offers technical training and CDIA offers Certificates in a variety of media.

Last, but not least, the various film offices you’d need to contact about shooting permits:
DC Film Office
VA Film Office
MD Film Office
